General Philosophy
The philosophy of the Bachelor Programme in Public Administration (B. Sc.) underscores the growing complexity of modern governance and ever increasing demands for effective service delivery by governmental machinery from the citizenry informed the need for a curriculum that will provide broad competences and skills in public sector management to stakeholders in the discipline. It is in the light of the over consideration that the Bachelor of Science in Public Administration is deem imperative as a medium through which the much needed highly trained administrative officers who are creative, efficient, and versatile are created and nurtured who could provide effective leadership in the administration of governmental and non-governmental organizations locally and internationally.

Objectives
Specifically the programme is set to achieve the following objectives:
- Provide students with knowledge and expertise in public policy and administration to enhance their capacity in policy formulation and implementation.
- Train administrative officers and other public officers with current decision-making and administrative techniques.
- Produce competent administrators that can put theories into practice and make creative decisions as well as fit into different parts of public service
- Provide well packaged public administration training that would ensure that target beneficiaries are public spirited and efficient and also conversant with the core values of public service.
- Five credit passes at SSCE (or its equivalent) in English Language, Maths, History, Government or Social Studies and any other two relevant subjects.
- UTME candidates must score the minimum points in the following subjects: English, History or Government and any other two Arts or Social Science subjects.
- Direct Entry requirement: Two “A” level credit passes in English, History or Government, or ND with credit passes in relevant subjects.
- Candidates must in addition to above satisfy the University Matriculation requirements.
