The University Library

The Federal University Gusau Library took off at the University Permanent Site on 4th January, 2015 with little over 4000 books and 265 journals (local and international). The collection is largely donations from Book Aid for Africa and Sir Emeka Offor Foundation and later from Prof. A. D. Forbes & Allen Forbes, Gusau Institute and some other prominent groups and individuals.

At the moment our Main Library is located in the Newly built Multipurpose Hall near the Faculty of Humanities & Education and the University Medical Center. The Library is serving three Faculties and Seventeen Departments in the University. Even as a baby Library, we boast of a collection of about twenty one thousand six hundred and eighty six (21,686) volumes of books and about one thousand five hundred and fifty five (1,555) volumes of periodicals/serials, this is made up of local and foreign journals, newsletters, magazines, bulletins etc. We also have a sizable collection of Newspapers. At first we started with just one National Daily and currently we buy two different National Dailies, we hope to add more titles in the near future. The Library will very soon automate its operations and services which will give our users a campus wide access to the resources of the Library. Our Library is on open access.

There is also a functional e-library with about fifty (50) Desktop computers located at the top floor of Classroom Block A, Rooms 15 & 16 with a reasonable quantity of e-resources in both online and offline databases. Our databases are:

  • OARE
  • CALIBRE (offline)
